The video shows the word “ARTIFÍCIO” (artifice) written with applique letters on a transparent adhesive (tape) background, cut out into thin parallel lines. The word is gradually deconstructed as the cut-out strips with overlapping letters are removed. Artifício, produced by the artist, is part of the collection of initial incursions into video art made at MAC USP, between 1976 and 1978.
